Things

This is the first age that's paid much attention to the future, which is a little ironic since we may not have one. — Arthur Clarke

Updates

#seerr: so jellyseer doesn't exist anymore, but seerr does and I'm not mad at it.

#checkmk: decided I didn't want the hassle of zabbix, so thought I would take something new for a spin

#jellyfin: it “caked it's pants” last night and wouldn't play or scan

pf

Sunday, March 8, 2026 The premier open source firewall solution that I ignored forever because very few people do a good introduction to it.

prestashop

Sunday, March 8, 2026 Only took like 6 tries to get up and going with docker, only realize that the problem I had was with the reverse proxy configuration

home assistant

Monday, March 2, 2026 the key with this is the constant rebuilds. from docker, to physical, to vm. I never seems to last long for me, but this time I have the official kvm image, so off we go.

ttrss

Monday, March 2, 2026 continues to be contentious in a way. I might be building the container wrong but sticking to the base one has a weird port that I just don't like.

nfsv4

Monday, March 2, 2026 yes, finally I am pushing all my nfs storage to nfsv4, about 19 years late, but better late than never

linkding

Monday, March 2, 2026 my choice for web bookmarks, I dig it because it takes snapshots of the content

joplin

Tuesday, February 24, 2026 thought about messing with joplin. it encouraged me to get the webdav back up and going.. that was a whole thing, but I haven't gotten back to it, since I think learning how to use orgmode more flexibly is probably a better choice overall. it's just that the orgmode mobile experience, (at least for me) hasn't been incredibly smooth, either on ios or android, but I think I have it going well enough to continue. I do with that orgzly revived would allow you to add your notes in trees. Or maybe they do and I just haven't figured out how to do it.

patchmon

Tuesday, February 24, 2026 it's good to keep an eye on the patches and stuff that every OS needs. There is a bonus project going on that will combine #patchmon and #checkmk, so I'm going to dive into that.

nginx proxy manager

it's been up and going for a few days and it's aight. abstracts a lot of what's going on from you. I know the nginx config can be esoteric at best, but I don't want to be blind. I have a problem now where every site except #jellyseerr works and I have little to no insight as to why. docker is cool and everything but... #nginxproxymanager

jellyseerr

2026-02-22 19:33:24 so jellyseer doesn't exist anymore, but seerr does and I'm not mad at it. #seeerr

checkmk

2026-02-22 19:32:45 decided I didn't want the hassle of zabbix, so thought I would take something new for a spin

jellyfin

2026-02-22 19:32:21 it “caked it's pants” last night and wouldn't play or scan #jellyfin

activepieces

web automation is a good thing, but not damned easy #activepieces

docker swarm

I have set up a 9 node cluster of virtual machines, now to get some actual stacks running. #swarm

second wireguard tunnels

I ran into an issue where one of my vps went down and it that was drapes. ended up splitting the tunnels into different functions instead #wireguard

shopping lists with grocy app going

for automated shopping lists and an excuse to buy a barcode scanner. <Tuesday, February 24, 2026

home assistant up and going

I got some light bulbs that I want to schedule.

jitsi

private video conferencing for whenever someone wants to see my face.

vlans

a flat network is probably a less than amazing idea
